Why Choose PLAB over AMC?

If you are an aspiring IMG or international medical graduate, you may be wondering where to work considering so many choices you have. Two of the most prominent choices are PLAB and AMC. We are talking about the UK and Australian licensing programs. You may be wondering whether to get core medical training UK or prepare for AMC.

Below, we will outline major differences between the two to help you understand why the PLAB test is better than AMC for medical graduates.

Better Pass Rates

No one wants to risk their career by risking it somewhere they may not succeed. While both are international-level examinations, the PLAB test has seen a substantially better passing rate than AMC, considering several coaching institutions and online classes available almost everywhere. In fact, more than two-thirds of candidates pass both PLAB 1 and PLAB 2 quite easily. On the other hand, IMGs should be prepared for multiple attempts.

Less Expensive Than AMC

If AMC has a low pass rate, we expect it to have fees but it’s not the case. IMGs pay £1,366 just for the AMC MCQ examination and pay £1772 for the second exam AMC Clinical. Whereas, PLAB is a popular examination with fees of around £239 for the first exam and £875 for PLAB 2.

Easy Access to Training

Getting AMC training is quite a task since the examination is so expensive that even the training will cost you more. Moreover, there aren’t as many AMC training centres. On the contrary, preparing for PLAB is easy with core medical training UK available almost everywhere.
